Vire
Très bien située sur une butte d’où l’on découvre les ondulations du Bocage Normand, Vire fut presque anéantie en 1944 par les bombardements qui la prirent pour cible, comme nœud routier.
Beffroi du 15ème siècle surmontant une ancienne porte du 13ème siècle, la Tour de l’Horloge a été épargnée. Maintenant isolé, il constitue l’élément autour duquel s’ordonne la nouvelle place centrale.

Well located on the top of a hillock from where you discover the undulations of the “Bocage Normand”, Vire was nearly destroyed in 1944 by the bombings that the town received because it was sited on a strategic road junction.
The “Tour de l’Horloge” (tower of the clock) now sitting alone is the only building that was saved. It is a belfry (15th century) on the top of an old gate (13th century).
