Sébastien le Gonard de Sourdeval
Sébastien Le Gonard de Sourdeval est un gentilhomme normand sur lequel je n’ai pu trouver aucun renseignement avant qu’il ne soit nommé commandant de Saint-Pierre (archipel de Saint-Pierre et Miquelon) par le roi Louis XIV le 1er mars 1702.
Il passera sa vie outre-atlantique à tenter de maintenir l’ordre entre les colons et à guerroyer contre nos amis les Anglais. En particulier à Placentia (en français Plaisance) ville de la péninsule d'Avalon dans la province de Terre-Neuve et Labrador au Canada qu’il tentera en vain de défendre.
Il quittera Saint-Pierre pour revenir en France en 1709 où il mourra peu de temps après.

Sebastien Le Gonard Sourdeval is a Norman gentleman for which I could not find any information prior to his appointment as Commander of Saint-Pierre (archipelago of Saint Pierre and Miquelon) by King of France Louis XIV on March, 1st 1702.
He spent his life overseas trying to maintain order among the settlers and to wage war against our English friends. Especially in Placentia (Plaisance in French) city of the Avalon Peninsula, in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada that he tried in vain to defend.
He left St. Peter to return to France in 1709 where he died shortly after.
