Pierre de Coubertin
Pierre de Coubertin naquit à Paris mais c’est dans le château de Mirville (non lion de Bolbec), propriété de sa mère que le futur « rénovateur des Jeux Olympiques » passa une grande partie de son enfance et de sa jeunesse. C’est là également qu’entre des voyages en Angleterre et l’Amérique, il élabora son projet de développement des activités sportives à l’école.
Il y fut ensuite élu conseiller municipal, sans avoir été candidat tant sa popularité était grande.
Suite au premiers Jeux d’Athènes en 1896, il organisa au Havre en 1897, un Congrès Olympique sous le patronage de Félix Faure.

Pierre de Coubertin was born in Paris but it is in the castle of Mirville (near Bolbec), owned by his mother that the future "reviver of the Olympic Games" spent much of his childhood and his youth. It was in this castle that, between one of his travels in England and in America, he elaborated his plan for the development of sports activities at school.
He was then elected town councillor without having been candidate as his popularity was so great.
Following the first Games in Athens in 1896, he organized at Le Havre in 1897, an Olympic Congress under the patronage of Felix Faure.
