Aéronaute qui s’illustra dans la conquête des airs en ballon. Suivant l’exemple des frères Montgolfier, il construit un ballon gonflé à l’hydrogène, muni d’une hélice et de rames en plumes (d’où le nom de ballon à rames donné à son ballon) mues à la force des bras.

Balloonist who became famous in the conquest of the air in a balloon. Following the example of the Montgolfier brothers, he built a balloon filled with hydrogen, equipped with a propeller and feather oars (hence the name of oar balloon given to his balloon) moved by the force of the arms.
