Havre Athlétic Club - le "HAC"
Le Havre Athletic Club Football Association ou Havre Athletic Club, et le HAC pour ses supporters est le club doyen du football français. Il est fondé en 1872 sous forme de club omnisports pratiquant la « combination », (sport hybride mi-football, mi-rugby également pratiqué à l'époque outre-Manche et même aux Etats-Unis).
La section football proprement dite débute ses activités en 1894. Les fameuses couleurs ciel et marine sont adoptées en 1891, en hommage aux étudiants des universités de Cambridge (ciel) et d'Oxford (marine) qui ont introduit ce sport en France via Le Havre.
Le timbre annonçant la coupe du monde de football en 1938 s’inspire d’une photo prise lors de la demi-finale de la coupe de France, la même année. Le match opposait le jeudi 14 avril 1938 l’Olympique de Marseille, maillot blanc, à l’équipe du HAC dans ses couleurs traditionnelles, le marine étant rendu en bleu foncé et le bleu ciel en blanc sur le timbre. Le match avait lieu à Lyon est s’est terminé par la victoire 1-0 de Marseille.
