Bayeux - La cathédrale
Capitale du Bessin, région aux gras pâturages qui orientent ses activités vers un commerce agricole, Bayeux, proche des plages du Débarquement, a pourtant été épargnée lors de combats de 1944. Elle conserve de ce fait un grand nombre de maisons et d’édifices anciens.
Le monument le plus imposant est sans conteste la cathédrale Notre-Dame. L’édifice est un bon exemple du gothique normand. Le tympan du portail sud raconte l’histoire de Thomas Becket.
