Esprit Auber
Esprit Auber est un compositeur. Il fut directeur du Conservatoire de Paris et auteur de nombreux opéras et opéras-comiques (La Muette de Portici, Le Domino noir, Fra Diavolo, ….)
Parisien obstiné « n’ayant jamais eu le temps » de se promener hors de la capitale, épicurien, mélodique et spirituel, il fut galant plus que passionné, élégant et garda, dans l’extrême vieillesse, une fine intelligence et une verve aimable. Il a été un musicien invariablement heureux, aimé, promu par ses contemporains, en raison de ses succès, au rang de grand maître.
A proximité de l’Opéra de Paris, une importante station de métro porte son nom.
