Le 9 janvier 1793, il effectue sa 45ème ascension à Philadelphie. Le président Washington lui serre la main, lui souhaite bon voyage et lui remet un “passeport” recommandant aux autres habitants de l’Union de l’assister dans ses efforts. Ce document est la première lettre transportée par les airs aux Etats-Unis.

January 9, 1793, he made his 45th ascent at Philadelphia. President Washington shakes his hand, wish him “bon voyage” and gives him a "passport" recommending to other US citizens to assist in his efforts. This document is the first letter carried by the air in the United States.
