Leif Ericson

Fils d’Erik le Rouge, Leif Ericson (v. 970-v. 1025) (en ancien islandais : Leifr Eiríksson) est un explorateur islandais qui fut probablement le premier Européen à explorer des terres de l'Amérique du Nord, et plus particulièrement la région qui deviendra Terre-Neuve, au Canada. Il les visita en 992. Il nomma trois contrées, le Helluland, le Markland et le Vinland.

Son of Eric the Red, Leif Ericson (c. 970-c. 1025) (in Old Icelandic: Leifr Eiríksson) is an Icelandic explorer who was probably the first European to explore the lands of North America, particularly the region that would become Newfoundland (Canada). He visited them in 992. He named three countries, Helluland, Markland and Vinland.
